A brief biography.

He was born on October 27, 1920 in the village of Shiryaeve, Odesa region, in the family of an artist.

In 1927, the family moved to Kyiv.

In the year 1939, after graduating from high school, Heorhiy Verbicki entered the architectural faculty of the Kyiv Engineering and Construction Institute. At the end of the year, he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. Participant of the Second World War.

In 1944, demobilized due to health. 

Years 1944-1947 he worked as an artist in the Kyiv State Military Construction Department.

Since 1948, a member of the Kyiv Regional Society of Artists, has participated in city and regional exhibitions.

Since 1950, he has been fulfilling the responsible orders of the Kyiv State Museum of T. H. Shevchenko - copies of T. H. Shevchenko's watercolors and sepia for museum exhibitions.

Year 1957 - participated for the first time in the Republican Exhibition - Jubilee Art Exhibition of the Ukrainian SSR, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the socialist revolution.

Year 1964. Personal exhibition "Visiting Shevchenko’s Places" in the Kyiv State Museum of T. H. Shevchenko.

Year 1965. Participated for the first time in the All-Union Art Exhibition - the First All-Union Watercolor Exhibition.

Since 1967 - a candidate for membership of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Since 1970 - a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Since 1971 - watercolors have been exhibited at international exhibitions.

From 1972 to 1976, he was a member of the bureau of the graphics section of the Kyiv organization of the Union of Artists of Ukraine.

From 1975 to 1987, he was a member of the Graphic Arts Commission of the Union of Artists of Ukraine.

In 1985, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd degree medals.

1988 - fulfilled a responsible order for the film "Études about Vrubel" - copies of Vrubel's watercolor sketches for the Volodymyr's Cathedral in Kyiv. 

Since 1989 - Honored Artist of Ukraine.

Year 1991. Executes a large order from the Canadian Cultural Center - copies of T. H. Shevchenko's watercolors.

Heorhiy Mykolayovych Verbickii worked in the field of watercolor painting, took an active part in Ukrainian and international art exhibitions. The works are kept in numerous museum and private collections.

He passed away on August 14, 2011 at the age of 90.
